Everyday carry is the list of items that you should never forget when leaving home. It differs from one profession to the other but there's something common for all. I know you want to explore whatever the military soldiers carry everyday. But let us keep it aside for a minute and talk about what civilian soldiers need to carry everyday. Everyone can't join the army but I am sure that everyone can live like soldiers. Guys get ready to buy your EDC, because today I am going over #6 Everyday carry for Ever ready soldiers.
#6 : WALLET :
I want to be clear, I am not talking about usual wallet that men carry. They are relatively big and I hate it. You need to carry a card wallet. Yup! you read it right.
Card holders are simple, they fit anywhere in your pocket and easy to carry. And they don't look heavy from out side but normal wallet does. You know what I'm talking about. In tight pants normal wallets don't fit in and from outside people could easily tell, you are carrying one.
OK! Coming back to ours. Highly prefer using card transactions but make sure that you carry enough cash in it in case of emergency because still Digital India hasn't reached all corners! There is enough space to have photos of your dear ones. So why wait? grab one.
#5 : NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT A WATCH :
Time management is the king and wearing a watch gives people a perception that you are someone who cares about time. A bonus tip, never waste your time and especially don't allow someone to do that. Time is something that you never get back to spend and don't take it for granted. The tik tik is not just a sound but a voice telling you, I am running!!!! But you are not!!!
Time commands the military and that's why you find them disciplined. Cultivate that habit in you and decide whether you are going to thank or regret?
#4 : NOTEPAD AND A PEN :
Have you noticed? Soldiers as well as police personnel always carry a notebook with them. Because at anytime they may be expected to note down the coordinates, a car registration number or some points. The same applies to us too. As a civilian you may want to note down a phone number or an address where you are headed or you may want to write down your idea that suddenly struck you because who knows! ideas comes to us from nowhere at such time you can't ask someone nearby a sheet and a pen. It would be good if you always carry one. Do you got my point?
One may argue that, rather than having all these stuffs separately, we can simply carry a smartphone. But let us imagine that your phone's dead! or lost! then you will loose everything. Never put all eggs in the same basket. Trust me you will need this!
# 3 : A POCKET KNIFE :
This thing is the real deal. Knife is the primary tool that we use since ancient times and is still useful. A pocket knife has a multi-purpose uses such as
- For cutting stuffs
- For wood work
- For trimming and tearing clothes
- For emergency and self defence
- And Useful in first aid.
And how many of us searched for scissors while cutting a cello tape.Carrying a knife is not allowed in several countries since it can be considered as a weapon. Kindly check whether your country is in the list and adhere to it. You don't know when you will be pushed into a survival mode and as soldiers it is wise to be prepared for it. I recommend you to carry a foldable, compact knife which is less than 4 inch.
#2 : A LIGHTER :
** Note ** : Carry pocket knife and lighter only if you are above 18. In case you are less than that get the elder's permission. And never think of using the lighter and knife to offend.
#1 : EARPODS :
I have selected these 6 EDC in such a way that they are compact and small and nothing needs a special pouch but can be loaded in your pant pocket. They come handy when you need it anytime anywhere so you can invest on them. Soldiery is not a duty that you perform but a lifestyle that you live in. Getting worried thinking about future won't help but getting ourselves prepared for any future threats is an act of gallantry.
